Demon Show, Sarabande Foundation 2022

Working across a variety of media including sculpture, drawing, installation, textile, ceramics and photography, this exhibition brought together the work of eight artists who explored the significant role of mythical creatures in relation to gender identity within feminist contexts.

Throughout the exhibition, bodies were contorted, reconfigured, cut up and stitched back together to expand our thinking of what bodies are and what they can be. Many of the objects were wearable, and most felt as though they could come to life at any moment – possibly to seek demonic revenge!!

The exhibition was part of WAAW (Women Artists’ Art Week), an initiative celebrating the work of female-identifying artists. It featured works by Anna Perach, Camilla Hanney, Daisy Collingridge, Mairi Millar, Paloma Tendero, Rosie Gibbens, Saelia Aparicio and Shirin Fathi.
