Installation View, Sarabande Foundation

Working across a variety of media including sculpture, drawing, installation, textile, ceramics and photography, this exhibition brings together the work of eight artists who explore the significant role of mythical creatures in relation to gender identity within feminist contexts.

Throughout the exhibition, bodies are contorted, reconfigured, cut up and stitched back together to expand our thinking of what bodies are and what they can be.  Many of the objects are wearable and most feel as though they could come to life at any moment – possibly to seek demonic revenge!! This show is part of WAAW, Women Artists’s Art Week, an initiative celebrating the work of female identifying artists. It features works by: Anna Perach, Camilla Hanney , Daisy Collingridge, Mairi Millar, Paloma Tendero , Rosie Gibbens, Saelia Aparicio and Shirin Fathi
